Accounting Analyst

Kelly Santini is seeking an Accounting Analyst to join our accounting team. If you are seeking an opportunity to start or advance your career in accounting, this role may be ideal for you.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Analyst will be responsible for daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards, and providing crucial support across departments.

Specific Duties of the Role:

  • Work in support of the CFO and the Managing partner in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets and forecasting.
  • Serve as a liaison between the accounting department and other departments within the firm, addressing inquiries and providing accounting support as needed.
  • Review trust and general journal entries, A/R and A/P entries, EFT and wire transactions.
  • Assist with the month end, quarterly and year end processes including the preparation and analysis of financial statements, reports and aiding with any external audits.
  • Supporting accounting team through full-cycle accounting; Ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations, invoicing, A/R collection, A/P processing, and reporting.
  • Preparing financial performance reports for partners, associates, students and clerks. Performing financial analysis and providing strategic recommendations to management.
  • Completion of monthly reporting and deliverables to the CFO and Managing Partner, including ageing analysis of A/R and WIP, bank reporting, A/P reporting and payments, monthly financial statements, cost recovery analysis, and more.
  • Assist with Law Society and insurance filings and compliance.
  • Process remittances and tax filings.
  • Coordinate special projects when needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience within Accounting / Finance roles and/or formal education in Accounting.
    • Legal industry experience an asset but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Able to interact with staff, peers, and senior leadership professionally and effectively.
  • Capable of working independently without supervision and able to appropriately prioritize work.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, controls, banking and financial implications.
  • Business acumen and proficiency with technology.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills.
