Aviation Experience

Representative work in the aviation sector includes:

  • Acting on the lease, acquisitions and joint ventures involving a diverse range of aircraft including specialty aircraft such as Dornier Alpha Jets (fighter jets) and Westwinds Jets modified for military target towing, experimental hybrid air vehicles, helicopters and executive jets
  • Acted on a complex multi-million dollar financing of military fighter jets imported into Canada from the U.S. and Germany
  • Act for a private aviation academy in Ontario, including its accreditation as a private college with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and University
  • Act for the contractor under a multi-year airborne training services contract with the Department of National Defence, with respect to both procurement and contract administration issues
  • Acting for a contractor with respect to the negotiation of National Individual Standing Offers for the provision of parachute systems and spares and search and rescue equipment to the Department of National Defence
  • Acted for Solacom Technologies Inc. on the sale of its Air Traffic Control (ATC) business unit, which provides voice and data communication systems and solutions for air traffic facilities and radio communications between airplanes and air traffic controls in military and civilian settings
  • Acted for the vendors and the corporation on the sale of all of the shares of Top Aces Inc. to Discovery Air Inc. (aviation and government services)
  • Acted for the successful bidder on a 3P project agreement with the City of Ottawa for the design, construction, management and operation of a $40M exposition hall on lands leased from the MacDonald Cartier Ottawa International Airport Authority and Transport Canada
