Mitch’s practice is dedicated to representing domestic and international insurers on defence and subrogation claims as well as providing coverage opinions. He has worked with many claims examiners and adjusters since starting his career and he has built a reputation for his capable handling of their most challenging and high value bodily injury, property and construction claims.

Mitch has appeared before all levels of civil court in Ontario and could have appeared in the Supreme Court of Canada but his application to deny leave was successful! He is a frequent speaker on insurance defence issues at industry events and was the editor of the firm’s RISK (Rulings Insurers Should Know) Report. He has spoken at events put on by the Carleton County Law Association, Canadian Defence Lawyers, The Advocates Society, Kingston & the 1000 Islands Legal Conference and he has taught law clerks and paralegals at Algonquin College.

He has volunteered his time at Pro Bono Ontario and he has been the Chair of the CCLA’s Continuing Professional Development and a member of the CCLA’s Diversity Committee. Mitch was one of the principals behind the annual Firms Filling Fridges campaign which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Ottawa Food Bank. In 2004 he was awarded the Regional Senior Justice Award and in 2018 he was presented with the Gordon F. Henderson Award. Mitch was elected by his peers as the Law Society of Ontario Regional Bencher for Ottawa East in 2023.
