Vanessa is a litigator and labour and employment lawyer with experience helping employers and employees prevent and resolve workplace disputes. She works side-by-side with employers on their day-to-day employment issues including discipline matters, performance management, workplace policies, employment contracts, investigations, and severance packages. Vanessa also advises the management of unionized workplaces on collective agreements, work jurisdiction and strike certifications.

When a dispute cannot be prevented, Vanessa acts for both employers and employees to resolve wrongful dismissal, human rights complaints, harassment, employment standards and other workplace disputes. She is known for her collaborative approach and always takes the time to listen to clients and to explain and discuss their options.

Prior to her legal career, Vanessa worked in the television industry for more than a decade where she managed primetime television series for HGTV, Food Network and Gusto TV. She was active in all aspects of the industry from sets and production to coordinating the acquisition and distribution of international programming. Vanessa is still involved in the industry as a member of the Board of Directors for the Ottawa Film Office. Her experience in the TV sector contributes to her work in employment law where her energy and business focus combines with her ability to creatively and effectively communicate her client’s stories.

In her free time, Vanessa manages her kids’ tackle and flag football teams, or cheering them on at hockey or competitive cheer practices and competitions. If time permits, Vanessa can be found playing guitar, tapping into her creative side, or on a golf course.
